Sound Healing
Sound healing is an ancient wellness, practice designed for rest, relaxation, mindfulness, and healing.
At the beginning of sound healing session you will be invited to lay down in a cozy and comfortable setting, close, your eyes and focus on the sounds made by a variety of musical instruments like chimes, gongs, medicine drum and crystal singing bowls. You will then be led into a meditation, focusing on the breath and grounding you into the practice.
The session usually goes for around an hour during which you can experience a number of different sensations. Most people report feeling deeply relaxed and calm. Sometimes the sound vibrations can trigger tingling in the hands or feet, warm sensations over the body and in some cases, pain from an old injury, can resurface as the frequencies trigger the cells in the body to activate healing. All the sensations are perfectly safe, and we encourage you to focus on your breath as the sensation passes.
How does it work?
During a sound healing session, the frequencies and vibrations created by the instruments travel through the air and into the body. Sound vibrations move more efficiently through water than they do air and as the human body is made up of over 75% water, these vibrations travel through the body very easily. The cells in the body then begin to vibrate at the same frequencies as the sound. The instruments used in a sound healing session are used intentionally, as they produce these specific frequency vibrations, creating an optimal environment for healing.
What are the benefits?
There are many benefits to sound healing.
1. Nervous system Regulation
Sound healing allows our body to drop into parasympathetic nervous system, the place of rest and digest. This is optimal for healing.
2. Improved sleep.
The frequencies of the sound slow down our brain waves to a frequency associated with sleep and rest. Many people report better sleep after a sound healing session.
3. Energy clearing.
The vibrations and frequency of sound can allow stuck or stagnant energy to be released from the energy centres of the body (known as chakras), bringing the mind, body and spirit into balance.
4. Improved wellbeing
Sound healing can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression by creating deep relaxation and improving our overall well being.
